MoonPay Execs Fall Victim to $250K Crypto Scam: ‘Accounts Originating From Nigeria’
It has recently come to light that two high-ranking executives at the digital payment company MoonPay have fallen prey to a significant cryptocurrency scam. According to a U.S. Department of Justice filing, Ivan and Mouna (who are believed by crypto outlet NOTUS to be Ivan Soto-Wright, MoonPay’s co-founder and CEO, and Mouna Ammari Siala, the company’s CFO) lost a staggering $250,000.
The scam allegedly involved convincing the executives that funds should be transferred into an account belonging to real estate developer Steve Witkoff, who is also a former co-chair of Donald Trump’s inaugural committee. It is essential to note that IP geolocation data consistently showed emails from these accounts originating from Nigeria and not the United States.
