Title: No part of Amazon is “unaffected” by AI, says its head of AGI
Amazon’s head of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), Sharma, recently emphasized that no aspect of the company remains unexposed to the impact of artificial intelligence. In a conversation with TechCrunch, he shared his views on the role of AI in Amazon’s operations.
As reported by Sharma himself, Amazon has been working on AI for over 25 years and has developed various AI models, including Alexa, which employs around 20 different AI models. With billions of parameters already built into these models, it is clear that Amazon is well-equipped to handle the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence.
In response to questions about ChatGPT and other emerging technologies in the field, Sharma expressed his company’s commitment to adopting any innovations that can benefit its customers. While some may have felt caught off guard by Open AI’s sudden launch of ChatGPT, Amazon has been actively exploring these trends for quite a while.
Regarding the current controversy surrounding the Trump-Zelensky affair and potential implications on GenAI resources in Europe, Sharma acknowledged the issue as “outside his zone of expertise” but hinted that companies might adjust their strategies due to the situation.
