**Saylor Suddenly Changes Tune on XRP**
Michael Saylor, the CEO of MicroStrategy, has dramatically shifted his stance on Ripple’s XRP token. In a surprise move, he announced a significant change in his previous position on the digital asset.
During a 2022 podcast appearance, Saylor stated that it was “pretty obvious” that XRP was an unregistered security and urged the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to shut down the token and other altcoins.
However, his recent statement has taken many by surprise as he announced a multi-token reserve, which includes XRP, Cardano (ADA), and other tokens. This unexpected announcement sparked a substantial backlash from some crypto-friendly voices, with Variant CLO Jake Chervinsky criticizing the move, stating that it is “a distraction from the real work that must be done on stablecoin and market structure legislation, among other big priorities.”
Despite the criticism, Saylor’s change of heart has been met with excitement by many in the cryptocurrency community.
