Mainstream Sounds & Genre Blends: What’s New in Country for the Last Half of 2025
With a plethora of emerging talent and genre-bending sounds, the country music scene is poised to revolutionize its sound in the second half of 2025. Billboard offers an exclusive preview of upcoming releases from at least 15 country artists who are all set to drop their first album or EP during this period.
Among them is Preston Cooper, a Valory newcomer with an undeniable power in his bluesy scratch. His debut single, “Weak,” serves as the perfect introduction to his raw approach, further confirmed by his forthcoming full-length project, Toledo Talkin’, scheduled for release on August 29. The Ohio-born artist’s music has already connected him with young fans, who are drawn to his authentic sound.
In a similar vein is Hudson Westbrook, a River House/Warner Music Nashville signee. This rising star boasts subtle melodies and traditional country instrumentation, characteristics that have allowed him to climb the Country Airplay charts. His debut album, Texas Forever, drops on July 25.
Another notable release is from Micah Fletcher, an indie artist who has fashioned his everyman vocal tone with real-world songs about faith and family built on easy-going hooks and modern production for his first EP, Highway to Heaven, set for a July 18 release.
Notably missing from this list are the seven female artists who will be joining the mainstream country scene. These women, with influences ranging from western to folk and Americana, are taking bold steps in pushing the boundaries of the format.
