Turki Alalshikh has made it clear that he will not tolerate disrespect when it comes to his country or religion. The influential boxing powerbroker has cut ties with two fighters, Floyd Schofield Jr. and Teofimo Lopez, after they failed to meet his standards of respect.
According to an exclusive interview published by Forbes, Alalshikh’s stance on this matter is unwavering. “I don’t want to go into exact numbers or contract details,” he stated. “But here’s what I’ll say—if you don’t respect my country or my religion, you will not do business with me.”
Alalshikh was asked about his relationship with Lopez, who has been known for making racist remarks and disrespecting the values of Saudi Arabia. The influential figure made it clear that he has no intention of being involved in any future fights involving Lopez. “I will not be involved in that fight,” he emphasized.
In another instance, Alalshikh expressed his disapproval towards Schofield Jr.’s actions. He pulled out of a scheduled fight with Shakur Stevenson just 36 hours before the event, and then went on to make false claims about Saudi Arabia’s handling of the situation through the media. This lack of professionalism and disrespect earned him a swift cutoff by Alalshikh.
The boxing world is abuzz with news of this unprecedented stance taken by Turki Alalshikh.
