Turki Alalshikh has cut ties with two fighters, Floyd Schofield Jr. and Teofimo Lopez, for being disrespectful towards his country and religion.
In a recent interview on Tha Boxing Voice’s podcast, the boxing powerbroker explained that he values respect above all else in his professional relationships. He emphasized that if someone disrespects his nation or faith, they will no longer do business with him.
Turki Alalshikh took issue with Floyd Schofield Jr.’s father publicly criticizing him and his country after a cancelled fight against Shakur Stevenson. The incident reportedly led to Schofield’s removal from the scheduled event and replacement by Josh Padley, who ultimately won the bout via unanimous decision.
In addition to this controversy, Alalshikh also expressed disdain for Teofimo Lopez’s frequent racist remarks, stating that he will no longer be involved in any of his future fights.
