
Jio announces deal to bring Starlink to India just hours after similar Airtel partnership
In a surprising turn of events, Reliance Jio Platforms has announced a partnership with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to offer Starlink’s satellite broadband internet services in India. This move comes just hours after its competitor, Airtel, also revealed a similar deal.
Under the agreement, which is subject to regulatory approvals, Jio and SpaceX will explore the use of Starlink technology to expand their offerings in the country. Additionally, Jio has agreed to sell Starlink equipment through its retail outlets and online storefronts, according to a press statement from the company.
The Indian telecom operator has also pledged to support customer service installation and activation for the Starlink equipment, further solidifying the partnership.
