Benchmark in talks to lead Series A for Greptile, valuing AI-code reviewer at $180M, sources say
Greptile, a startup that has developed an AI-powered code review tool, is reportedly in the process of raising a Series A. According to sources familiar with the matter, Benchmark partner Eric Vishria is leading the round, which would value Greptile at a staggering $180 million.
Founded by Dasksh Gupta after he graduated from Georgia Tech in 2023, the startup went through Y Combinator in the winter of 2024 cohort and later secured a seed round led by Initialized Capital. In an interview with TechCrunch last year, Gupta explained that the AI bot his company developed functions as an experienced coworker, possessing a deep understanding of the customer’s code. This enables it to pinpoint bugs and other potential issues that human reviewers might miss.
The competitive landscape for AI-powered coding tools is quite intense, with prominent players such as Graphite and Coderabbit vying for market share. In order to outcompete these rivals, Greptile has required its staff to work exceptionally long hours. Gupta even posted on X in November that his company “offers no work-life-balance.” Employees typically put in 14-hour days, including weekends.
The impending Series A round would be a major milestone for the startup and cement its position as one of the leading players in the AI-code review space.
