Meghan Markle Accused of Copying Historic Coat of Arms for New Lifestyle Brand
Meghan Markle’s newly launched lifestyle brand, As Ever, has been called out for allegedly plagiarizing the historic coat of arms from a Spanish town. The logo for her website features a black and white palm tree surrounded by two hummingbirds, which bears an uncanny resemblance to the 643-year-old coat of arms of Porreres.
The town’s mayor, who represents the council responsible for the original design, revealed that they will not be taking legal action against Markle. Instead, they have asked her to show respect for their cultural heritage and historical significance.
“We consider it to be an unfortunate coincidence,” said the mayor in a statement. “We only ask for respect for our historical and cultural heritage, such as the emblem of Porreres — an image that identifies us as a town and is part of our local culture.”
This incident raises questions about intellectual property protection and cultural sensitivity.
