
A devastating multi-vehicle crash occurred late Thursday night in Austin, Texas, resulting in the tragic loss of three adult lives and two children. At least 12 people were injured in the chaotic incident, with three of those victims being minors.
According to eyewitness accounts and official reports, the accident took place on Interstate 35 southbound in North Austin around 10:30 PM local time. The catastrophic event involved a staggering 17 vehicles, with multiple occupants trapped inside their damaged cars.
“5 patients (3 adults, 1 child, 1 infant) have been pronounced deceased on scene,” Austin-Travis County EMS announced in a statement. Emergency responders were forced to navigate the complex and extensive wreckage to rescue those pinned in their vehicles.
Injuries ranged from minor to severe, with at least three children among those injured. The extent of these injuries has not yet been disclosed by authorities.
The cause of the crash remains unclear as investigators work to determine what led to this catastrophic incident.
