CZ Dismisses Rumors Of Trump Family Talks To Acquire Stake In Binance US
Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao has denied rumors circulating about his company, stating that there have been no talks or negotiations with the Trump family to acquire a stake in its US division.
In an interview, CZ dismissed the speculation, stating that while he does not know Donald Trump personally, any potential collaboration or partnership would require significant due diligence and transparency. “I don’t think it’s likely,” he said, downplaying the rumors.
This announcement comes amidst controversy surrounding Binance’s history in the US market. In 2022, Zhao, a.k.a. CZ, was sentenced to four months of imprisonment after pleading guilty to related charges stemming from his company’s anti-money laundering (AML) and money transmitter licensing issues.
Zhao would mind a pardon, especially being the only one in US history who was ever sentenced to prison for a single BSA charge.
The timing of Zhao’s denial is significant, as Binance’s US division recently reinstated its American dollar-backed fiat services after nearly two years.
