The Netflix ‘Untamed’ Ending Explained: Who Killed Who, And Why?
As the credits rolled on the latest season of Untamed, I’m sure many viewers were left scratching their heads at the sheer complexity of events that transpired. As someone who has been following this show closely, I’d like to dive deeper into the shocking revelations and untangle the web of deceit and betrayal that ultimately led to the demise of several characters.
For those who haven’t had a chance to watch the finale yet, be warned: this article contains major spoilers ahead!
Let’s get started by breaking down the fates of each character. It was revealed in the final act that Paul Souter, the local ranger chief, is responsible for the death of Lucy Cook. However, it wasn’t a straightforward murder. Instead, we learned that Lucy was actually Souter’s secret daughter, whom he had given away to foster care when she was young. Feeling betrayed and seeking revenge, Lucy returned to blackmail him unless he disclosed his wife about their past affair.
As tensions escalated, Souter attempted to reason with her, only for things to take a deadly turn. In the heat of the moment, he shot Lucy in the leg to prevent her from fleeing, but her injuries ultimately led to her demise after being attacked by coyotes. With Souter’s conscience heavy and unable to cope with the consequences of his actions, he took his own life.
On the other hand, we have the drug gang responsible for the deaths of the bait shop kid and the squatter. It became clear that these individuals were attempting to clean up loose ends that could potentially lead back to their illegal business dealings. Although Lucy was involved with the drug trade, she remained a pawn in their game, ultimately sparing her life.
One of the most intriguing arcs involves Jill (Kyle’s ex-wife) and Shane, who collaborated to kill Sean Sanderson, a man missing for five years. Kyle discovered that Sanderson had abducted and murdered his son Caleb, an event captured on Shane’s wildlife cameras. Frustrated by Sanderson’s disappearance, Kyle desired justice, but Jill saw fit to take matters into her own hands. Together with Shane, they eliminated Sean, though it remains unclear what happened to his body.
Kyle later discovered the truth about Sean’s demise and chose not to disclose anything to anyone, opting for a silent understanding instead.
Lastly, we have Naya (the deputy ranger) who killed Shane after he attempted to harm Kyle. This revelation was hardly surprising, given their tumultuous relationship and past confrontations in the woods.
Ultimately, it is important to note that these events left many viewers questioning the moral implications of Sean’s assassination.
