Microsoft Just Released A Major Android App Upgrade For Windows 11 PCs
Microsoft has announced an upgrade for its Link to Windows app, which offers enhanced integration with Windows 11 PCs. The upgraded app now allows users to remotely lock their PC, check the battery and Wi-Fi status of their device, transfer files, mirror their phone’s screen on the PC’s display, access recent PC files and clipboard items, and control content between Android devices and Windows 11 PCs.
According to Microsoft, the new experience is rolling out, and users may not see it immediately. To access the upgraded app, one needs the latest Windows Insider Preview build on their PC and Phone Link version of 1.25062.83.0 or higher, while on Android, you require the Link to Windows app with a version number of 1.25071.155 or higher.
The new upgrade offers various features that streamline cross-device workflow. For instance, users can lock their PC from their phone with just one touch, ensuring privacy and security. Additionally, this feature allows users to control content between Android devices and Windows PCs, giving them more flexibility in managing multiple devices.
In the previous version of the app, users were only able to set their PC to lock if they went beyond a certain distance from it, as determined by the location of their phone. However, this new upgrade has eliminated this requirement, allowing users to manually lock their screen without needing to physically move away from their desk or workstation.
The new design and onboarding experience have also been improved, permitting users to set up the app directly on their Android device without involving a PC.
