Bicep’s new project Takkuuk tackles the pressing issue of Arctic climate change by bringing attention to those directly impacted. The collaboration with Indigenous artists and sounds from glaciers, animals and more aims to educate listeners about the devastating consequences of global warming on local communities.
British-Norwegian electronic duo Bicep has released a groundbreaking audiovisual project, Takkuuk, which tackles the pressing issue of Arctic climate change head-on. The collaborative effort aims to raise awareness among listeners by humanizing the crisis through storytelling and immersive sounds.
The project, named after the Inuit word “Takkuuk,” meaning ‘to look closely,’ brings together visual artist Zak Norman and filmmaker Charlie Miller with Bicep’s Andy Ferguson and Matt McBriar. This ambitious endeavor seeks to educate the masses about the devastating impact of global warming on local Arctic communities by putting a face to this climate crisis.
The duo spent two weeks exploring Greenland, meeting with locals and learning about their plight as temperatures rise exponentially. The project does not only feature stunning visuals showcasing the breathtaking beauty of the Arctic landscape but also the soundscapes of glaciers, animals, and other elements, offering an immersive experience that listeners can engage with.
