New Lyft Feature Lets Riders Select Drivers They Want to Hire Again
Ride-sharing app Lyft has introduced a new feature that allows riders to “favorite” specific drivers and choose to ride with them whenever possible. This move comes just one day after Lyft competitor Uber launched its own service, which enables female passengers to select female drivers.
Lyft’s latest innovation, dubbed the “favorite driver” function, permits riders to mark their preferred drivers in the app. This allows the company to attempt to match riders with these same drivers for future trips. After any exceptional ride experience, users can simply tap to favorite the driver, which will then prioritize connecting them with that individual whenever possible.
The new feature aligns with Lyft’s objective of fostering meaningful connections between drivers and riders. By providing this control, riders can now make informed choices about their transportation experiences based on prior interactions. Additionally, it offers multiple benefits for drivers, as they are granted priority access to certain customers who request rides.
Lyft is set to roll out the new feature in the coming weeks, with a wide availability expected by the end of August across the United States and Canada.
