New Lyft Feature Lets Riders Select Drivers They Want to Hire Again
Ride-sharing app Lyft has introduced a new feature that allows users to “favorite” drivers and choose to ride with them again in the future. This move comes just a day after Lyft competitor Uber launched a service that enables female passengers to select drivers who are women.
Under this new feature, riders can mark their preferred driver as a favorite within the app, enabling Lyft to attempt to match them with the same driver for future bookings. “After any great ride, simply tap to favorite that driver,” explains Lyft in a statement. “Then, we’ll prioritize connecting you with your favorites whenever possible” for scheduled rides.
The company claims that this feature further emphasizes its goal of fostering meaningful connections between drivers and riders through shared experiences. By allowing users to select their preferred driver, Lyft aims to provide an enhanced experience by giving them more control over their ride-sharing journey. This new feature also grants “favorite” drivers priority access to certain customers who request rides, which could lead to additional earning opportunities for these drivers.
The company has announced that this function will be rolled out in the coming weeks and is expected to become widely available across the U.S. and Canada by the end of August.
