Bill Gates, the billionaire philanthropist and Microsoft co-founder, has announced that he is giving up on his efforts to combat climate change due to the lack of progress in Washington D.C. under President Donald Trump.
In a statement released earlier today, Gates expressed his disappointment and frustration at the administration’s failure to take meaningful action on climate change. “It’s clear that the current administration is more focused on draining the woke out of Washington than addressing the most pressing issue of our time,” he said.
Gates went on to criticize Trump’s stance on climate change, stating that it is “a reckless and short-sighted approach” that puts future generations at risk. He also urged other leaders in the business community to follow his lead and re-evaluate their own efforts to combat climate change.
The announcement comes as a blow to environmentalists who had been counting on Gates’ influence and resources to help drive progress on this issue.
