The New Freakier Friday Trailer Gives Me All the Nostalgic Teen Angst Feels
It’s been a while since I’ve felt like I’m 14 again, but the new trailer for Freaky Friday has brought back all the feels of my angsty teenage years. The movie seems to be embracing its nostalgic roots, bringing back the iconic Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, this time with some fresh talent joining them in a whole new take on the classic story.
The trailer gives me serious flashbacks to when I was obsessed with my diary and trying to navigate the ups and downs of high school. Watching Anna’s (played by what looks like an impressive performance from Lindsey Broad) transformation into her mother, Tess, is giving me all sorts of teenage emotions. Who else remembers being so invested in their own personal struggles that they could almost cry whenever anything went wrong?
I must admit, the inclusion of hot Jake from high school (Chad Michael Murray reprises the role) has caught my attention. I never thought I’d say this about a movie targeted at millennial moms, but it looks like we’re in for some serious drama and possibly a baby daddy mystery.
Manny Jacinto, best known for his roles in The Good Place and Blindspot, is rumored to be joining the cast as Anna’s current beau. While I’m excited to see what he brings to this role, I have to admit that my mind has already started wandering to all the possibilities of this storyline.
It’s official – Freakier Friday will start streaming on Disney+ and hit theaters on August 8, which gives me just enough time to prepare myself for an emotional rollercoaster ride.
