BlackRock’s XRP ETF Filing Will Happen After SEC Lawsuit, Top Analyst Claims
The recent development in the Ripple vs. SEC lawsuit has led to speculation about the potential impact on BlackRock’s plans for a Ripple (XRP) ETF filing. According to top analyst Geraci, it appears that the financial giant will not be submitting its proposal before the legal battle concludes.
As reported earlier this week, the SEC has postponed making its decision on filings from crypto asset manager Grayscale and other firms. This news comes amid ongoing controversy over Ripple’s lawsuit against the regulatory body. It is now uncertain when, if at all, BlackRock will proceed with its plans for an XRP ETF.
Samara Cohen, BlackRock’s chief information officer, stated that it would be “a while” before the financial titan would launch more cryptocurrency ETFs beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum. Meanwhile, Jay Jacobs, US head of thematic and active ETFs at BlackRock, has made clear the company’s focus on its existing offerings, dismissing any plans for exploring new altcoin ETFs.
However, Geraci believes that BlackRock will not simply allow competitors to launch ETFs based on Cardano (ADA) without a fight. The analyst is confident that BlackRock will eventually file its XRP ETF proposal once the SEC lawsuit concludes and the regulatory climate becomes clearer.
BlackRock’s potential entry into the altcoin ETF space would be significant, given its massive influence in the financial industry.
