Phil Collins Is in Hospital for Surgery, Not in Hospice, Rep Confirms
Legendary singer and drummer Phil Collins has been hospitalized due to a recent knee operation, not as the result of any terminal condition or hospice care. This confirmation comes after online speculation about his health began circulating this week.
According to a representative for the 73-year-old artist, the misinformation surrounding his well-being is “completely unfounded.” The rep clarified that Collins’ current hospitalization stems from his knee surgery and not any serious illness. It appears that online chatter has been fueling a false narrative surrounding the iconic musician’s health.
The news comes as fans are still reeling from Collins’ historic 2022 farewell concert, where he performed seated due to ongoing health challenges. The “Invisible Touch” hitmaker has openly discussed his medical struggles in recent years, stemming from a serious spinal injury he suffered back in 2007. This injury resulted in nerve damage and drop-foot condition, leaving him with limited sensation in one of his feet.
The music community has been abuzz with concerns over Collins’ well-being, following his retirement from performing with Genesis in 2022. In a recent documentary titled “Phil Collins: Drummer First,” which premiered on the Drumeo YouTube channel in December last year, the musician candidly shared updates about how his health issues have impacted his life and career.
Collins’ impressive discography includes numerous Billboard chart-topping hits and accolades.
