Lollapalooza 2025 Mainstage Will Be Entirely Powered by Emissions-Busting Hybrid Batteries
In a groundbreaking move, the organizers of Lollapalooza have announced that their main stage will be entirely powered by an innovative hybrid battery system. This bold step is part of the festival’s ongoing commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting sustainability.
The initiative is a joint effort between C3 Presents, Live Nation’s Green Nation sustainability program, and REVERB, a renowned non-profit dedicated to environmental advocacy. The collaboration marks the second year that Lollapalooza will be using hybrid batteries to power its mainstage, having debuted this technology last year with incredible results.
According to reports from Billboard, the 2024 festival saw a whopping 67% reduction in both fuel use and greenhouse gas emissions compared to previous years. This staggering decrease translates to a massive impact on the environment, equivalent to sparring five homes’ electricity usage for an entire year. Additionally, the use of batteries saved over 3,000 gallons of fuel.
The success of this initiative has far-reaching implications for the music festival industry as a whole. By demonstrating that it is possible to power major events with clean energy sources, Lollapalooza sets an important precedent for other festivals to follow suit.
In addition to the hybrid battery system, Lollapalooza 2025 will also be incorporating various sustainability initiatives throughout the event. These measures include recycling and composting programs, free water stations, and the use of biodiesel fuel in generators.
Furthermore, the festival has partnered with Leonardo DiCaprio’s Re:wild organization to provide attendees with information on plant-based diets and other ways to promote environmental stewardship in daily life.
The move is a significant milestone for Lollapalooza and reinforces its commitment to reducing its ecological footprint.
