Title: Drake to “Delve Deep” Into ‘Degrassi’ Past for Documentary Premiering at Toronto Film Festival
The upcoming documentary, Degrassi: Whatever It Takes, is set to delve into the past of Canadian television’s most impactful shows. According to reports, a prominent figure from the show will be featured in the documentary – none other than Aubrey Drake Graham, aka Drake, who played Jimmy Brooks on the popular series.
As part of his role as Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi: The Next Generation between 2001 and 2009, Drake’s character faced significant life-altering challenges. He was shot in the back during a school shooting and became paralyzed from the waist down, leaving him confined to a wheelchair for the remainder of his time in the cast.
Interestingly, it has been reported that Drake initially opposed the storyline, citing concerns about his reputation in the hip-hop community. According to one of the show’s writers, James Hurst, Drake allegedly received a letter from a law firm in Toronto stating that he would not return for season six if his character’s life-altering injury wasn’t healed.
