Tim Cook Reportedly Tells Employees Apple ‘Must’ Win in AI
In a recent all-hands meeting with Apple employees, CEO Tim Cook emphasized the importance of winning in the artificial intelligence (AI) space. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Cook stated that “Apple must do this. Apple will do this. This is sort of ours to grab.”
The meeting comes on the heels of an earnings call during which Cook revealed plans to significantly increase AI investments. While the company has already launched various AI-powered features under its Apple Intelligence umbrella, it has faced criticism for delays in upgrading its voice assistant Siri.
Cook acknowledged that Apple has historically been slow to adopt new technologies, citing examples such as being second to market with the PC and smartphone. However, he emphasized that this did not stop the company from revolutionizing those industries by inventing the modern versions of these products.
It remains unclear what specific strategies Cook outlined for catching up in AI, but his remarks suggest a renewed focus on the technology at Apple.
