Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) has made a bold declaration about his detractors, stating that they are simply “conformists” who pretend to dislike him in order to fit in with the crowd. In an interview with People, MGK opened up about why he is no longer bothered by the negativity surrounding him.
“I’ve let it go completely,” he explained of the constant barrage of criticism and disdain from certain individuals. “I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s a joke.'”
The rapper-turned-rocker believes that his haters are merely trying to fit in with others who dislike him, rather than having any genuine reasons for their animosity.
“I think men let their insecurity rule their entirety,” he said of the primary source of hate he receives. “I’m like, ‘Look, we can be protectors and all these other things that we’re supposed to be, and also be expressive and vulnerable and emotional, and we can dress how we want, look how we want.'”
MGK’s comments come ahead of his highly anticipated album release, Lost Americana.
