OpenAI Launches a Sub $5 ChatGPT Plan in India
In a move aimed at increasing user adoption and conversion rates, AI giant OpenAI has launched a new subscription tier called ChatGPT GO. This affordable pricing plan is priced at ₹399 per month, approximately $4.60 USD, making it more accessible to the Indian consumer base.
The company’s VP of ChatGPT, Nick Turley, highlighted that this new tier will provide 10 times higher message limits, 10 times more image generations, and 10 times more file uploads compared to the free tier. Additionally, users can expect 2x longer memory retention for personalized responses.
Turley emphasized that making ChatGPT more affordable has been a key ask from Indian users, and this move is part of OpenAI’s strategy to learn from feedback before expanding it to other countries.
The new plan comes as OpenAI aims to capitalize on the growing demand for AI-powered tools in India. The country boasts an internet user base exceeding 850 million, making it a crucial market for the company to tap into.
